I am now offering creative writing coaching on SuperProf (despite being only moderately super and definitely not a prof). All sessions will be tailored to the individual, but here are some of the kind of things we might do:

Kickstart your Creative Writing

Got an idea but don’t know where to start? In these sessions we’ll look at approaching the empty page, structuring your ideas, finding your voice and developing your plot.

Learning to Read Like a Writer

In these sessions we’ll do in-depth analysis of other writers. But instead of focussing on the themes of their work as one might in an English literature class, we’ll look at the texts from a technical perspective. How do they build scenes? Control pace? Reveal character?

Chapter Analysis (2hrs: 1hr prep, 1hr face-to-face)

Ahead of these sessions tutees will be asked to submit 3-4000 words of prose 24hrs before the session starts. I will then spend an hour on prep, reading and writing comments on the document. We’ll then meet online for an hour to discuss the work.
